What Is Onboarding?

Onboarding is your guided introduction to WEIR. During this process, you'll create your account, set up your identity profile, and receive your first Protect license automatically. This foundational license gives you immediate control over how your name and image can be used.

The onboarding checklist tracks your progress through key setup tasks, helping you unlock the full value of the platform quickly.

Who Can Use It?

Anyone can sign up for WEIR. The platform is designed for individuals who want to protect their identity, manage their likeness rights, and discover where their name or image appears online.

How to Get Started

Step 1: Create Your Account

  1. Click the "Sign Up" button.
  2. Enter your email address.
  3. Check your email for a verification code (6-digit OTP).
  4. Enter the code or click the magic link in your email.
  5. Provide your legal name and any stage name you use professionally.
  6. Select your gender identity (used for default profile images).
  7. Optionally set up a passkey for faster sign-in on future visits.

Step 2: Verify Your Email

Check your inbox for a verification email from WEIR. Click the verification link to confirm your email address. This step is required to access all platform features.

Note: If you don't see the verification email, please check your spam or junk folder.

Step 3: Review Your Default Protect License

Upon signup, you'll automatically receive a personalized Protect license named "[Your Name] - Limited Non-Commercial Use" with these features:

  • Published and visible in the public catalog
  • Allows non-commercial, attributed use of your likeness
  • Valid for 3 years from signup
  • Includes a gender-appropriate default profile image
  • Keeps commercial rights securely in your hands

Step 4: Complete Your Welcome Checklist

After signing up, you'll see a welcome banner with completion tasks:

  • Add images to your license: Upload photos of yourself to replace the default profile image.
  • Explore the marketplace: Browse other members' licenses on the Discover page.
  • Check your mentions: See if your likeness has been detected in content.

Using the Quick Start Widget

The Quick Start widget provides a personalized, goal-based onboarding experience. It helps you complete the most important setup tasks based on how you plan to use WEIR.

Choosing Your Path

Select the path that matches your primary goal:

  • Protect: Monitor where your likeness appears and take action when needed.
  • Earn: Monetize your identity by creating licenses and tracking revenue.
  • Manage: Manage a portfolio of licenses for clients, talent, or team members.
  • Use: Discover and license identities for creative projects or campaigns.
  • Integrate: Build on WEIR's API to add identity rights management to your platform.

How Progress Tracking Works

  • Each path has specific steps tailored to your goal.
  • Check off completed tasks to track your progress.
  • Some items auto-complete based on your account status (verification, connections).
  • Progress percentage shows your completion rate.
  • Use "Start Over" button to reset all progress and choose a different path.

Tips & Notes

  • Your default Protect license is immediately active and discoverable by others.
  • You can edit or customize your license at any time from the My Licenses page.
  • Adding your own photos helps matching systems identify your likeness more accurately.
  • The welcome checklist disappears once all tasks are completed.
  • You can create additional licenses for different use cases (e.g., commercial rights, specific projects).

Age Requirements & Minors

WEIR requires all users to be at least 18 years old to create an account and use the platform. This requirement ensures users can legally enter into contracts, manage publicity rights, and participate in financial transactions.

Why 18+?

WEIR's services involve legally binding agreements that require adult capacity:

  • Entering into license agreements and contracts.
  • Managing publicity and likeness rights.
  • Receiving payments and participating in financial transactions.

If You're a Parent or Guardian

Our services are not intended for children under 18 years of age. If you believe your child has provided personal information to WEIR, please contact us at privacy@weir.ai to request data deletion.

Biometric Features

For users who meet the local age of consent, biometric matching features are available to help detect where your likeness appears online. In some regions, parental or guardian consent may be required for users under the local age of consent to use biometric features.
