What This Is

WEIR p.b.c. would like your permission to create your biometric templates—digital patterns based in part on your appearance and voice. These templates help you find and manage where your appearance is used in content, data, and software, even when you're not specifically named or tagged. Enabling biometric consent allows us to find deep mentions—content where your likeness appears without your name being explicitly mentioned.

Eligibility

This option is only available to people who meet certain requirements based on location, age (must meet local age of consent, or have parental/guardian consent if younger), or other local regulations.

How We Use Your Data

If you opt in, we may collect:

  • Photos, illustrations, videos, audio clips, or any other digital media that includes you ("content")
  • Limited technical data like your IP address or device type

If you opt in, we may use your biometric templates for:

Account Protection

  • Verify your identity
  • Protect your account and other accounts from unauthorized access

Content Management

For You:

  • Detect whether your appearance and voice appears in content, data, and software
  • Apply your preferences about how your name, image, or appearance can be used
  • Allow you to assign someone else to manage this system for you

For Others:

  • Help distinguish you from other people in content, data, and software
  • Improve content accessibility for people with disabilities

System Improvement

  • Improve the safety, security, fairness, performance, and effectiveness of our system
  • Allow audits of our privacy, security, and AI practices (without sharing your biometric templates)

Your Data & Privacy

How We Handle Your Data

We secure your biometric templates from people and systems that don't need access, whether inside or outside our company. We do not sell, lease, or voluntarily share your biometric templates with anyone. We may use secure service providers for technical storage and processing.

What We May Share

We may share information about content that contains your appearance and voice, and your related preferences, with companies we work with to provide this service, and only for the purposes described in the "How We Use Your Data" section.

Data Retention

We may retain your biometric templates as long as you have an account and remain opted in, but no longer than 3 years from your most recent opt-in.

Data Deletion

We will promptly delete your biometric templates anytime you ask by opting out or deleting your account, unless the law requires us to keep them longer.

Your Rights

You're Not Signing Away Your Rights: While you're giving WEIR p.b.c. permission to process your biometric data, this doesn't grant us ownership or IP rights to your name, image, likeness, or creative work.

Managing Your Consent

You can opt in or out of biometric consent at any time through your account Settings under the Verification tab. Opting out will stop future biometric matching but does not automatically delete existing deep mention records.
