Why Verify Your Identity?

Identity verification confirms you are who you claim to be, which unlocks powerful features and adds credibility to your licenses. Verified members gain access to advanced protection tools and monetization capabilities.

Verification Options

Option 1: Online Verification (Recommended)

Fast, automated verification through Stripe Identity. Complete in minutes using your government-issued ID.

  1. Navigate to Activate Protection
  2. Click "Start Verification"
  3. Follow Stripe's secure identity verification flow
  4. Take a photo of your government-issued ID (passport, driver's license)
  5. Take a selfie for liveness verification
  6. Wait for automated verification (typically 1-5 minutes)

Accepted IDs: Passport, driver's license, or national ID card from most countries.

Option 2: Manual Verification

For users who prefer not to use automated verification or need accommodation.

  1. Navigate to Activate Protection
  2. Click "Request Manual Verification"
  3. Submit a support ticket with verification request
  4. Our team will contact you with alternative verification steps
  5. Manual review typically takes 1-3 business days

Biometric Consent

After verification, you can optionally enable biometric/facial recognition for deep mention detection. This is a separate consent that allows WEIR to search for visual appearances of you in content.

Important: Biometric consent is optional and separate from identity verification. You must be verified first, then can choose to enable biometric matching.

What Biometric Consent Enables

  • Visual detection of your face in photos and videos
  • Deep mentions that don't include your name
  • Higher confidence matching for enforcement
  • Comprehensive identity protection beyond text search

How to Enable

  1. Complete identity verification first
  2. Navigate to Settings → Privacy
  3. Review the biometric consent disclosure
  4. Toggle "Enable Biometric Matching"
  5. Confirm your consent

You can revoke biometric consent at any time in Settings → Privacy. Revoking consent stops future biometric matching but doesn't delete existing deep mention records.

Verification Statuses

  • Verified
    Identity confirmed. All features unlocked.

  • Pending
    Verification in progress. Check back soon.

  • Not Verified
    Verification not started or failed. Some features limited.

Tips & Notes

  • Verification is one-time; you don't need to re-verify unless flagged
  • Your ID documents are processed by Stripe and not stored by WEIR
  • If verification fails, you can retry or request manual review
  • Verification reversal (rare) will suspend some features until re-verified
  • Biometric consent can be changed anytime in Settings.
