Revenue Sharing

Split earnings with collaborators, managers, or team members.

What Is Revenue Sharing?

Revenue sharing allows you to automatically split earnings from license sales with other people. When someone subscribes to your license, the payment is automatically divided according to the shares you've configured.

This is useful for collaborators, managers, agents, or anyone who should receive a portion of your licensing income.

Key Concepts

  • Per-License: Shares are configured per license, not globally
  • Forward-Looking: Shares apply to future earnings only (no retroactive payments)
  • 100% Rule: Owner receives remainder after all shares assigned
  • Invitations Expire: Share invitations expire after 7 days
  • WEIR Members Only: Both parties must have WEIR accounts

Setting Up Revenue Shares

  1. Navigate to Earnings → Revenue Sharing tab
  2. Select the license you want to configure sharing for
  3. Click "Add Share"
  4. Enter the recipient's email address
  5. Set the percentage share (1-99%)
  6. Optionally set start and end dates
  7. Send the invitation
  8. Recipient accepts to activate sharing

Managing Active Shares

Once a share is active, you can manage it from the Revenue Sharing tab:

  • Edit Percentage: Adjust the share amount (takes effect on the next payment cycle)
  • Pause Sharing: Temporarily suspend a share without deleting it
  • End Sharing: Permanently stop sharing earnings with a recipient
  • View History: See all payments made through this share arrangement

Note: Ending a share does not affect past payments. Only future earnings will stop being split.

Share Statuses

Pending

Invitation sent, waiting for recipient to accept

Active

Share is live and earnings are being split automatically

Expired

Share reached its end date and is no longer active

Declined

Recipient declined the share invitation
