# Estate Management

Manage deceased individuals' identity rights and digital legacy.

### What is Estate Management?

Estate Management allows authorized representatives to protect and license the name, image, and likeness (NIL) rights of deceased individuals. This is essential for estates, heirs, and legal representatives who need to manage posthumous rights for celebrities, artists, athletes, and other public figures.

As an Estate Manager, you can create and manage licenses on behalf of the deceased person's estate, monitor for unauthorized use, and take action to protect their legacy.

### Who Can Become an Estate Manager?

Estate Manager access is granted to individuals who can demonstrate they have legal authority to manage a deceased person's likeness rights. This typically includes:

- **Executors:** Named in the will or appointed by a court
- **Trustees:** Managing a trust that holds NIL rights
- **Heirs:** Direct family members with inherited rights
- **Authorized agents:** Law firms or talent agencies with proper documentation

### How to Request Estate Manager Access

1. Go to the [Contact page](/content/contact/index.html)
2. Select "Estate Manager Request" as the request category
3. Provide the name of the deceased person whose estate you represent
4. Describe your relationship to the estate and your authority to act on their behalf
5. Submit your request - our team will review and may request additional documentation

**Note:** You may be asked to provide legal documentation such as letters testamentary, trust documents, or power of attorney to verify your authority.

### Creating Estate Licenses

Once approved as an Estate Manager, you can create licenses for the deceased person's likeness:

1. Navigate to your [Licenses page](/content/licenses/index.html)
2. Click "New License"
3. You'll see an option to choose between "Personal" and "Estate" license types
4. Select "Estate" to create a license for the deceased person
5. Enter the deceased person's legal name and any stage name they were known by
6. Add reference images and set licensing terms as you would for a personal license

Estate licenses are marked with a special "Estate" badge to distinguish them from personal licenses. The monitoring and claims features work the same way as personal licenses.

### Managing Multiple Estates

If you manage multiple estates (for example, a law firm representing several deceased clients), you can create separate estate licenses for each individual. Each estate license will have its own identity profile, reference images, and monitoring settings. All estate licenses you manage will appear in your [Licenses dashboard](/content/licenses/index.html).
