# Claims & Enforcement

Assert your rights when your likeness is used without permission.

### What Are Claims?

Claims are professional, watermarked PDF reports that document unauthorized use of your identity. They serve as formal documentation for content removal (takedown) or licensing offers.

WEIR supports both member-to-member claims (sent to other WEIR users) and external claims (sent to any email address).

### Creating a Claim (6-Step Workflow)

1. **Content Selection:** Choose content evidence from mentions or enter URLs manually
2. **Claim Type & Reason:**Select claim type (Takedown/Licensing) and reason:
   - Unauthorized Commercial Use
   - Unauthorized Likeness
   - Misrepresentation
   - Brand Damage
   - Privacy Violation
   - AI Generated Content
   - Other
3. **License Selection:** Associate with a WEIR license (required for licensing claims)
4. **Recipient Selection:** Pick from WEIR members OR enter external email
5. **Claimant Information:** Your contact details for the claim
6. **Review & Submit:** Confirm details and send claim

### Responding to a Received Claim

If someone sends you a claim, it appears in your Received Claims tab. You have several options:

1. Open the claim from your Received Claims tab
2. Review the claim details, evidence, and associated license
3. Choose a response: Accept, Dispute, or request more time
4. If disputing, provide your counter-evidence and explanation
5. Submit your response before the deadline

**Note:** Claims have a response deadline. If you don't respond in time, the claim may be marked as "Ignored" and the claimant may escalate further.

### Understanding the Claim PDF

Each claim generates a professional, watermarked PDF document that serves as formal evidence. The PDF includes:

- **Claim Code:** Unique identifier for tracking and reference
- **Claimant Details:** Your legal name and contact information
- **Content Evidence:** Screenshots or URLs of the infringing content
- **License Reference:** The associated WEIR license and its terms
- **Claim Type & Reason:** Whether it's a takedown or licensing request
- **Watermark:** Security watermark to prevent unauthorized reproduction

**Tip:** The claim PDF can be downloaded and used as supporting documentation if you need to escalate to platform takedown processes.

### Claims Page Tabs

- **My Claims (Outgoing):** Claims you've created and sent
- **Received Claims (Incoming):** Claims sent to you by others

### Claim Statuses

- **Draft:** Not yet sent
- **Sent:** Delivered to recipient, awaiting response
- **Accepted:** Recipient agreed to terms
- **Disputed:** Recipient filed a dispute
- **Ignored:** No response before deadline
- **Resolved:** Claim concluded

### Dispute Workflow

If a recipient disputes your claim, you can respond with evidence. The conversation happens in a message thread where both parties can upload evidence and respond.

- Evidence can be uploaded as attachments
- Deadline-driven auto-actions via scheduled processing
- Final resolution (accept/reject) recorded with timestamp
